The Chief Engineer of a yacht (<3000gt <9000kw) is in charge of the operations in the engine room. He/she is responsible for the engineering equipment of the yacht, and the engineering team.
The chief engineer should have good engineering skills, technical skills as well as in-depth knowledge of the engineering systems of the yacht.
The engineer will plan repairs and overhauls of the yacht. The chief engineer is also in charge of communication with subcontractors. The position requires more than five years of experience and a MCA Y1 - Y2 level license.
