The Chief Engineer of a yacht (<3000gt <3000kw) is in charge of the operations in the engine room. He/she is responsible for the engineering of the yacht, and the engineering team on board.
The Chief Engineer should have good engineering skills, developed technical skills and a perfect knowledge of yacht engineering systems.
The engineer will be in charge of planning repairs and yacht engine overhauls. The chief engineer is also in charge of relations with subcontractors. This position requires more than five years of experience and a MCA Y1 - Y2 level license.
