Job description
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Yacht Captain (M/F) for a 30m yacht, berthed in Montenegro during the winter months and active in a busy charter program primarily in Italy during the summer. The yacht will also be used by the owner for 3-4 weeks during the summer season.
Responsibilities
- Yacht Operations: Oversee the safe navigation and operation of the yacht during both owner and charter use, ensuring all voyages are conducted smoothly and in accordance with maritime regulations.
- Crew Management: Lead and manage a team of yacht crew members, ensuring all duties are performed to the highest standards while maintaining a positive, professional working environment.
- Maintenance: Oversee and ensure the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the yacht, both while berthed in Montenegro during the off-season and while on charter or owner’s trips.
- Charter Program Management: Manage a busy charter schedule during the summer months, primarily in Italy, ensuring all guests have an exceptional experience.
- Cost Control and Budget Management: Maintain financial reports and manage expenses to ensure adherence to the budget.
- Owner Relations: Work closely with the owner during their 3-4 week use in the summer, providing personalised service and ensuring all their needs are met.
- Winter Preparations: Prepare the yacht for the winter season while berthed in Montenegro, ensuring it is in optimal condition for the following charter season.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Yacht Captain (M/F), preferably on similar-sized yachts.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a crew. - Hands-on attitude.
- In-depth knowledge of maritime laws and regulations.
- Experience with Mediterranean charters, particularly in Italy, is highly desirable.
- English speaker is a plus.
- Extremely well-organised.
- Active and dynamic.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Honesty and transparency.
