Job description
A family is looking for a new Yacht Captain for their 86ft boat based in Miami Florida, the USA.
It is a live-out position so the candidate has to be based in or close to Miami.
The position is full time, but the family primarily uses the boat Mid-November to Mid-May (mainly in the afternoons). There may be trips to the Bahamas once a season.
When the family is not in Miami, the captain will still be responsible for maintenance and work on the yacht. The boat is 86 feet and there's a stewardess and first mate on staff.
Start: By the end of January 2022.
Responsibilities
- Safe navigation and operation of the yacht
- Make sure the yacht owner (or guests) are satisfied
- Setting of budgets and budget management
- Hiring, leading, appraising and dismissal of crew if needed
- Overseeing the upkeep of the vessel
- Managing yacht refits and surveys
- Being an ambassador for the yacht, hosting and entertaining guests as required
- Ensure the safety of life of everyone onboard
- Ensure the safety of the vessel (paperwork, unforeseen circumstances, etc.)
- Ensure the safety of the marine environment
- Ensuring the crew is well-trained, rested, and qualified to do their job, all while remaining safe
Requirements
- Experience as a yacht captain in a similar position
- Valid certifications
- Great experience in South Florida and Bahamas
- Excellent references from former employers
- Legal status in the US
- Flexible and adaptable individual with a can-do attitude
- Italian speaker will be a plus
Work conditions
- Schedule: 5 days/week - 2 days off
- Full Time - permanent role
- Salary : $120000 per year
