Job description
We are seeking a Captain 500 for a permanent position with one of our clients in Norway.
This role is based in Norway with a company specialized in organizing polar cruises in the Arctic. The ship offers unique experiences to travelers seeking polar exploration.
The position involves a rotation of 2 months on board the ship, followed by 1 month of rest. The vessel accommodates a dozen passengers on charter trips, eager to explore the polar world in exceptional conditions.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe navigation of the vessel in compliance with maritime rules and local regulations.
- Safeguard the passengers and crew on board by following safety and accident prevention protocols.
- Supervise the crew and ensure the overall smooth operation of the ship.
- Manage ship maintenance and upkeep to ensure safety and proper functioning.
- Develop cruise itineraries considering weather conditions and seasons.
- Plan stops, onboard activities, and excursions to provide passengers with a memorable experience.
- Maintain effective communication with the onshore team, including weather reports, emergency situations, and logistical needs.
- Provide clear and informative communication to passengers regarding activities, regulations, and polar region specifics.
- Offer excellent customer service by addressing passenger inquiries.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment on board.
- Manage logistics for supplies, food, water, and other necessary resources for the cruise.
- Prepare for and respond effectively to emergencies, such as ice situations, potential groundings, or injuries on board.
- Promote environmentally friendly practices in the polar region.
- Adapt to changing situations and passenger needs to deliver an exceptional experience.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Captain.
- Captain 500 certificate required/Yacht Master 500.
- Knowledge of ice and specific Arctic weather conditions is an asset.
- Maritime safety training, including emergency management and evacuation procedures, is essential.
- Ability to supervise and manage a crew, make informed real-time decisions, and communicate effectively is crucial.
- Capability to handle various tasks, including ship maintenance, logistics management, safety, and customer service, is necessary.
- Dynamic, available, and flexible.
- Expert in organization and planning.
- Fluent in French or English.
- Mobile and flexible.
