Job description
We are currently looking for an experienced Chef Engineer 3000Kw (male/female) for one of our clients, for a 50-meter yacht based in Athens, Greece, for a fixed-term contract of 3 months.
The position is available from February 15, 2024.
Jamaica flag.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth operation of all mechanical and electrical systems aboard the yacht.
- Plan and supervise regular maintenance work, as well as necessary repairs on engines, generators, and other mechanical equipment.
- Lead and supervise the team of engineers and technicians on board, including their ongoing training.
- Ensure the smooth operation of the yacht's navigation, communication, and safety systems.
- Manage the supplies of spare parts, fuel, and lubricants necessary for the proper functioning of the yacht.
- Ensure that the yacht complies with all maritime regulations and safety standards.
- Develop and manage the budget allocated for the maintenance and repair of the mechanical department.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and regulatory inspections.
- Coordinate with service and spare parts suppliers, as well as with external maintenance companies.
- Stay informed about technological developments in the field of maritime mechanics and propose upgrades or improvements if necessary.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Advanced knowledge of all systems aboard the yacht.
- Excellent planning ability for maintenance.
- Autonomous and organized.
- Multitasking and versatile.
- Ability to delegate and train engineers on board.
- Accounting management of expenses and purchases for engine maintenance.
- Knowledge of subcontracting companies in case of breakdown.
- Qualifications: Mechanic 3000, STCW, and up-to-date medical examination.
