What are the duties of a yacht engineer?

What training do I need to become a yacht engineer?

To become a yacht engineer, it is necessary to have a solid technical background in mechanics, electricity, electronics or computer science and a specialized engineering title.

Maritime training is also recommended to understand the specificities of the marine environment. Diplomas such as the Brevet d’Etudes Professionnelles (BEP) or the Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) in Nautical Maintenance can open doors in the yachting industry and lead to an engineering degree.

​Yacht engineers can also benefit from specialized training in propulsion and energy systems, such as obtaining a MEOL or AEC certificate of competency.
